Making Labels (click on steps below to open PDF copy of instructions)
To save you time, I have created a template for the DATABASE in Excel 97 format. Save this to your computer then delete the names and addresses and type in your names and addresses. Save this file. The label template will need to have the names and addresses inserted. There will be two more templates…one for a label with graphics and one for a label without graphics. You can use them with this database.
With the template #2 for a label with NO graphics. Since this is in Word 97, it will contain all the field codes (not Address Book codes as in Word 2003). Any Word version should be able to use this template. When following the directions, start with Step 4, no. 8a to find the database. After finding the database, you can start with Step 4, no. 17 of the instructions. This label has already been set up for you, so you can skip any directions for setting up a label. However, I have Word 2003 and do not know what another version might ask you to do. You may have to experiment with this if you do not have Word 2003 but if this works for you, it can save you several steps in setting up the document.
With the template #3 for a label with graphics saved in Word 97 format. The cells have been split so you can insert a graphic. However in order to keep this file small, I did NOT insert a graphic into every cell. So you will need to copy the graphic, then paste it into the empty cells to complete the template. Then save the template before opening the excel database. This label has already been set up for you, so you can skip any directions for setting up a label. However, I have Word 2003 and do not know what another version might ask you to do. You may have to experiment with this if you do not have Word 2003 but if this works for you, it can save you several steps in setting up the document.
