What is Eula? (The big agreement that every body clicks OK on with out reading)

Bill Funk President of ASCIi computer club recently wrote of his experience with a free Photo hosting program referred to him by a relative.

Upon reading the EULA agreement for this free program he discovered the following:

  1. The company offering this service had total rights to Bill's e-mail address (he had entered this area using a false address so no problem so far)
  2. The company offering this service would inventory all programs and files on Bill's computer. (Under the guise of being able to help later)
  3. The company offering the service had the right to down load to Bill any programs they wished. (guess where spyware comes from)
  4. Any friends or relatives wishing to view Bill's on line photo's would be required to log in. (here comes the spam)
  5. Finally the company would have all rights to the photo's Bill might post, and also the right to refuse them.

The bottom line is that Bill did read the agreement and saved himself and his friends a lot of future grief. The above mentioned agreement was 5 typewritten pages long but was well worth the time it took to read.

The real question is DO YOU TAKE THE TIME?
